Dear Mama…Don’t You Know I Love You Sweet Babyyyyy

This weekend was a pretty lazy one for me. I didn’t do much of anything. I did get some shopping in! Some of the things I bought for myself and a large majority, Hurricane bought. It’s nice to be spoiled sometimes. =)

I definitely broke my “No Spend January” challenge. I was only 5 days away! See what had happened was…I went into Rue 21 with Hurricane’s younger cousin and I just sort of lost my mind. I did try to talk myself out of the purchases and it definitely didn’t work. I saw the clearance section for jewelry and I couldn’t help myself. I’d not really shopped here before since their clothes are for itty bitty girls/guys. However, like the plus-sized bloggers advise: don’t pay attention to the size on the label. There was a cute shirt that looked like it would fit and I refrained from buying it since I wasn’t in love.  Sad that I could refrain from clothes easier than I could jewelry. I do love the jewelry Rue 21 sells and I’ve been trying to increase my collection! So I just said “Fuck it” and bought what I wanted. I did put one necklace back (because I picked up a pair of cute shoes for $10!! >.<).  In all: I bought a cute little bow ring ($3), a long pearlescent necklace ($9), a pair of black heels with ruffles on the back heel ($10), a pair of earrings – long gold dangly ones ($4). I didn’t go too crazy! Oh and I bought a pack of slim headbands. I need more of those in my life. That was about $4. Rue 21 reminds me of Forever 21 in that they have similar prices for their jewelry. The jewelry is adorable and I think it holds up pretty well for the price!

Saturday, Hurricane got an elaborate tattoo of her mom’s face on her calf. The thing took about 4 hours to complete and I was pretty impressed with the result. The only part I dislike are her teeth. The tattoo makes them look all scraggly when they’re not. Hopefully once the tattoo settles down, it will look better.

Sunday, Hurricane took me shopping. Saturday she was driving around town and saw signs for the closing of our local Avenue. When she told me this I became excited since I had a chance to take advantage of some major *hopefully* deals. So we get to the store and they definitely aren’t closing. They’re just having a huge clearance sale. Still great in my book! I’d been wanting to buy some Avenue tights after hearing rave reviews about them so I was happy to be able to buy some. I got 2 pairs of jeans (2 for $40), and 2 shirts for about $8 total, bracelet, 2 necklaces and a pair of Cloud Walker shoes for $15. The style is a bit older than I would normally choose but I really thought they were cute! And what’s funny is Hurricane liked them too (she doesn’t always like my style). Love the color – they’re a maroonish color. Considering the original prices, I did pretty well! Of course, I was spending Hurricane’s money but I was glad to save her some money! Lol. That’s not something I’ll do very often. In fact, I think this is the most I’ve let her spend on me when it comes to clothes and all that. I just feel weird letting someone else buy me clothes/jewelry, etc because it’s not a necessity. Now, if it’s my mother or sister – that’s a whole different story, lol. Hurricane was happy to do this though so I tried to get over my feelings and just enjoy the fact that I have someone who wanted to spoil me in that moment. =)

So yesterday I wore this purple sweater I bought in FL while on vacation; it’s from Marshall’s. It wasn’t a planned purchase; we were going out that night and I wanted something comfy and warm (since it was chilly at the time – stupid FL). I picked this out an although I like the shirt – I didn’t feel too comfortable in it at the club. I was hot and it just seemed too much for the club. Ah well! The shoes were pretty comfortable and I was worried they would hurt horribly by the end of the day. The only part that did hurt was the side of my pinky toes. A little moleskin fixed that problem right away. =)

I know this isn’t a great picture. I was sleepy as fuck and it’s coming out in the picture.  Annnd I always do this weird thing with my feet when I take pictures – I bend them out to the side. Of course this means you can’t see the heel very well…

Anywho – wish I had more to report but I really don’t. There are some ideas I have for posts so I’ll have to see if those come to fruition. Hopefully my lazy self will write something up! I want to post some of my poems but I’m wary of doing that since they’re not copyrighted. Not like I could make money off them but if someone else steals them and gets rich – I’ll be one pissed bitch. I’m jus sayin… A few more pictures are below. I tried to get a good picture of the shoes on my feet. The color is better in person; this picture doesn’t cut it!

30 Days of Me: Day 8

~*~ Day 08 –  Short term goals for this month and why. ~*~

Soooo I’ve definitely not been doing this as regularly as I’d hoped. Alright so short term goals for the month? Well January is almost over. (Already?!!! >.<) I was participating in the No Spend January challenge a lot of fashion bloggers have been doing. Although I do have a blog, it’s by no means a fashion one so I didn’t want to “officially” join the challenge. I have been very good so far! I did kind of cheat over the weekend though. I was with Hurricane and saw this really nice purse for $5. Instead of me buying it, I asked her to buy it for me. It was a gift from her right?? Right?! o.O Yeah – probably not. I did use gift cards from Christmas but I do not count those as part of my earned money. During the first couple of weeks I kept forgetting I wasn’t supposed to spend money on clothes, etc. Target is my Achilles heel! Every time I enter I gravitate straight towards the clothes, particularly the clearance section first. One day I went into Target to get some cereal and before I knew it, I was halfway through a clearance rack before I remembered the challenge! Ooops… It’s not hard to refrain from spending the money as much as it’s hard to resist going into stores. I am on a budget so when I’m not making these promises to myself, I don’t spend very much anyways.

So I guess I should come up with a short-term goal for February? I dunno. I would like to start exercising yet I know how stubborn/lazy I can be and I may not do that. I can make it a goal to walk more during lunch. That’s been a goal of mine before though and I’ve not obtained that one. Hmmm…maybe to refrain as much as possible from negative thinking. I think that one would have better results at the moment. I’m such a self-conscious person and my self-esteem fluctuates dramatically based on someone else’s opinion of me. That’s unhealthy and I can’t rely on others for my happiness (or so I’m told). I have to learn to love myself for who I am, what I look like, what my body can do, etc. So yes – February is the month of love anyways so I’ll make it my month of self-love! ❤

Oh and I guess I’ll include an OOTD. I am surviving off 2 hours of sleep so I look less than jubilant in this pic. Nothing terribly fascinating about this outfit. The shirt is the only animal print I own. I have yet to buy more animal print because of that voice in my head “It looks great on others and you just can’t pull it off!” I need to silence that voice ASAP. And I feel like the outfit is missing that final…oomph! people talk about. Skinny belt? Better jewelry? I need bangles in my life! Going through my bracelets this morning was depressing. I don’t have enough! Not going to mention the jewelry details since they’re in the previous posts. The earrings are different – they were a gift from my lovely girlfriend. I believe she bought them at Macy’s.

City Chic

There are several plus size stores online I love poking around on. Torrid, ASOS Curve, and Faith 21 are a few of my favorites. I used to live near a Torrid back home and now the nearest one is 3 hours away! I’ve had the chance to visit a Faith 21 in the Sunshine State and I really wish we had one here. There  is one a few hours away in some itty bitty city. I do not understand the reasoning behind that; I just hope they open a store here ASAP. ASOS is UK-based and I was so happy when they opened an US site. I’ve ordered from them once and plan to again when I see something I’ll spend the money for. I’ve become tight with my money because…well…I have bills. 😦 I really miss being a kid and not having to worry about that. Even in college I only had about 2 bills so I had more spending money. I was richer in college than I am now. Isn’t is supposed to be the other way around??? o.O I digress…

Entyways – I’ve not looked at the City Chic site very much because they’re overseas (Australia). City Chic recently launched an US site though and I’m liking what I’ve seen so far! Their sizing is interesting too. It goes from XS to XL. When I first saw that I thought “Isn’t this supposed to be a plus-sized store??!! What is this madness?!” When I clicked on the Size Guide link it made sense. This is their sizing chart.  Their XS corresponds to a 14, S is a 16, M is an 18, and so on, up until a size 28. So I’m an XS – S (on top anyway)! I love it. 🙂 What I also like is the comparison chart. If you know your size at some of the other popular plus-size stores (Torrid, Lane Bryant) then you can see what your size would be at City Chic. It’s really neat and I kind of wish other stores had something similar. However, I do understand clothes are cut differently and sizing isn’t always consistent between the stores. I’ve learned through experience and the various blogs I’ve read that you shouldn’t always pay attention to the size; it’s just a number. The fabric may stretch or the shirt may be roomy. I had a shirt that was supposed to be big on a skinnier girl and it was fitted on me. I didn’t care; it was still cute. 🙂

Some of my favs from City Chic (Click pic to be linked):

Roxanne Dress: I wish I could pull this off. “Sure you can!!” is what my friends would say. I’m sure it would look alright but this girl looks like she has attitude, spunk, confidence! This dress was made for her! Why do I sound like some kind of advertisement? Lol..

Wild Flight Maxi Dress: I LOVE maxi dresses! They’re so feminine and right up my alley. One of the best compliments of my LIFE came from a customer when I worked retail. She said I looked like a goddess in my maxi dress. She may have been exaggerating (I sure didn’t feel like one at the time, lol) but it was really sweet nonetheless.

I really like these two tops, Graffiti and the Turn Head top. The Turn Head one is so cute and I don’t think I would want to wear anything over it. Well, I guess the boyfriend jacket would be cute; I definitely need to add one of those to my wardrobe!

I’ve added this store to my list of stores and will be sure to order sometime in the future, especially once the holidays pass. I can’t wait! >.<
