Anon Be Gone

When I first started this blog (all of a couple of months ago…), I wanted to remain anonymous. I guess I figured it would be better for me just in case someone I knew stumbled upon the blog – I wanted my identity to be kept secret. Well, that’s kind of difficult to do. I’m ok with creating code names for my friends/family but I want to post pictures! Not to sound narcissistic but I do like to see my face from time to time. So no more anonymity. I don’t plan on this blog being a fashion one considering I’m low on the totem pole compared to the beautiful fa(t)shionistas out there in the internetz.  I just plan to ramble on about my life, post pictures of OOTD (though they will probably NOT be on the regular), etc etc. It’s just a place for MEEEE.

So today I wore this beautiful purple shirt with my pencil skirt. I don’t really like wearing pencil skirts to work because I feel as though I’m being too “sexy” in the workplace. I have curves and all and I guess I feel as though I need to hide them. However, I’ve seen so many bloggers rock the pencil skirt & some of them seem to wear them at their jobs so I guess it’s alright. As my coworker, Sminty says “You can’t help what you’ve got!”

I wanted to tuck the shirt in for that Mad Men, secretary type look and decided not to at the last minute. I’m very self aware of my stomach and felt it was too big for the outfit to look cute in that style. Funny thing is, when I see other large(r) girls wear the tucked in shirt with the pencil skirt, I think it looks sexy on them! I love bellies, I guess I just don’t like my own. That’s a “resolution” of mine – learn to love myself this year. Soooo we’ll see how that goes. I almost wore something dark this morning considering the weather is so dreary. I stuck with the purple though because I need bright colors in my life. I used to tease my mother about her clothing options. She LOVES bright, loud colors (we once had a yellow couch with multi colored fish on it – I kid you not). When I was in high school I wore either blue or black. I didn’t venture out much farther than that. Somewhere along the way that changed & now I like bright colors. I know they make me stand out yet I think I like them just because they look pretty. It’s the simple things.

These pictures aren’t the best. I had the lovely StarFish take them for me on her camera phone. I know I need to work on the pose; I didn’t know how to stand. I’m awkward with shots straight on; I never know what to do with my hands/arms! I usually put them on  my hip and then I have every picture looking alike because of the hip pose. Ah well.. Oh and I’ll work on showing the shoes better next time. Pretty much – the pictures kinda suck if you compare them to the more seasoned bloggers. I’ll get the hang of it!

Couple of closeups of the jewelry. Again, excuse the quality…

30 Days of Me: Day 7

A picture of someone/something that has the biggest impact on you.

I’m having a bit of hard time thinking of something or someone. My parents have a big impact but that’s kind of predictable, IMO. So I went with babies. Since I want to be a baby catcher I figured it was appropriate. Babies really do have an impact on me though. Anytime I’m in a foul mood all I have to do is hear a baby’s laugh or see an adorable baby in the store and my mood improves. Something about them warms my heart. I was excited to see my nephew at Christmas. He’s only a month and a half old and SO precious. He sleeps mostly and he even fell asleep while I was feeding him once, lol. Babies have it easy don’t they? It’s funny how curious he is already though. He gets fussy when he’s laying down too long or when you hold him horizontally he’ll start trying to lift his head. His mother said he’s most content when propped up on a pillow so he can see the world. He definitely belongs in this family. =)

30 Days of Me: Day 6

~*Day 06 – Favorite super hero and why.*~

I don’t have a favorite superhero. I like some of the movies (Spiderman, Batman, etc) but I’m not obsessed with any of them. For this post, I will choose Robin Hood. I like his mission: Steal from the rich and give to the poor. I don’t take this literally but I do like how he wanted to help the less fortunate. I tend to root for the underdog (I loved that show!) and like to help not only someone who may have less material things, but anyone really. That’s why I want to be a Baby Catcher. These women do more than catch babies, they also take care of women in many ways.

30 Days of Me: Numero Dos

~*~ Day 2 – The meaning behind your Blog name ~*~

Wellll if you really want to know…. My astrological sign is Scorpio and I’m a Queen. Point. Blank. Period.

Seriously though, the “Queen” comes from an inside joke with my family. As the youngest child I was spoiled and growing up I guess I’ve exhibited a queen-like nature. I’m not a brat about it, I’m just used to things being done a certain way. 😉 I’m not a snob and I accept people of all kinds; I’m very open-minded. I feel the word “queen” can have a negative connotation attached and it means someone is stuck up, snotty, spoiled (well I am that), expensive tastes, high maintenance, etc. That’s not all me! I love all kinds of people. I am spoiled but not as much as I used to be. I think all women would appreciate the “finer things” at times but I don’t expect that in my life. Some people call me high-maintenance yet I don’t quite see that one. Maybe I’m in denial.

I call myself a princess because I believe the younger girls should call themselves that. I’m a grown woman so call me a Queen.

To quote one of my favorite movies,  A Little Princess: “I am a princess. All girls are. Even if they live in tiny old attics. Even if they dress in rags, even if they aren’t pretty, or smart, or young. They’re still princesses. All of us!”

30 Days of Me : Day 1

Day 1: ~*~ A recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself ~*~

I don’t want to post a pictures of me or family on here so I’ll have to modify these some. Let’s see if I can think of 15 interesting facts….

  1. I’ve gone to a different school every grade until the 10th grade. We aren’t a military family, my mom just loved to move.
  2. When I’m sad/stressed/depressed, horror movies cheer me up.
  3. I have a thing for scents of loved ones. When my sister or brother would leave home I would have to sleep on their pillows because they left behind their scent. I’ve been doing this since I was a little girl. It drives me crazy that Hurricane does not have a scent. I can’t “smell” her when I miss her.
  4. Certain songs give me goosebumps and/or cause me to shiver. They’re orgasmic. 😉
  5. When listening to songs I try to sing the lyrics of the singer, backup singers and instrumentals. This is an inherited trait.
  6. I’m not a fan of foods with a weird texture like yogurt, cream cheese, cottage cheese, plain pudding, bleu cheese, etc. It may have a nice flavor but the texture makes it disgusting. I just found a yogurt I can tolerate as long as I eat it slowly and don’t think too much about it.
  7. I can’t stand to have anything grainy on my fingers when I’m eating (salt, crumbs, etc). I have a habit of flicking it off because it’s so irritating. I’ll even do it after every fry. I’ve done this religiously since I was a child.
  8. I dislike wearing sneakers if I’m not exercising. Living in the Sunshine State caused this to happen. When I relocated to a colder place I was forced to wear closed toed shoes. I love boots and flats but avoid sneakers as much as possible.
  9. When we first moved to the Sunshine State, I could NOT stand thonged sandals and avoided them like the plague. Now, they’re my favorite kind of sandals.
  10. I almost quit my first retail job before I even started. I was terribly shy and scared I wouldn’t succeed. In a few months I was a great employee and glad I stuck it out.
  11. Continuing on with my shyness trait, I would refrain from turning in class assignments if it involved having to get out of my seat and placing it on the teacher’s desk (if it were at the front of the classroom). It was too overwhelming to get up in front of everyone. This was during my awkward preteen/early teen years.
  12. I have a strong love for office supplies. If that were all I got for Christmas, I would be pretty content.
  13. When I get stuck on a favorite food I’ll eat it every day until I get tired of it. Right now I’m eating shitloads of cereal.
  14. I don’t like swimming in the ocean because there’s no boundary. Even floating stresses me out; I’m afraid I’ll float away into the abyss.
  15. In college, my gay best friend gave me a makeover. He’s part of the reason for my fashion sense now. =)

It’s kinda hard to come up with 15 interesting facts on the spot. I’m sure I will think of other things I would have wanted to say later.
