City Chic

There are several plus size stores online I love poking around on. Torrid, ASOS Curve, and Faith 21 are a few of my favorites. I used to live near a Torrid back home and now the nearest one is 3 hours away! I’ve had the chance to visit a Faith 21 in the Sunshine State and I really wish we had one here. There  is one a few hours away in some itty bitty city. I do not understand the reasoning behind that; I just hope they open a store here ASAP. ASOS is UK-based and I was so happy when they opened an US site. I’ve ordered from them once and plan to again when I see something I’ll spend the money for. I’ve become tight with my money because…well…I have bills. 😦 I really miss being a kid and not having to worry about that. Even in college I only had about 2 bills so I had more spending money. I was richer in college than I am now. Isn’t is supposed to be the other way around??? o.O I digress…

Entyways – I’ve not looked at the City Chic site very much because they’re overseas (Australia). City Chic recently launched an US site though and I’m liking what I’ve seen so far! Their sizing is interesting too. It goes from XS to XL. When I first saw that I thought “Isn’t this supposed to be a plus-sized store??!! What is this madness?!” When I clicked on the Size Guide link it made sense. This is their sizing chart.  Their XS corresponds to a 14, S is a 16, M is an 18, and so on, up until a size 28. So I’m an XS – S (on top anyway)! I love it. 🙂 What I also like is the comparison chart. If you know your size at some of the other popular plus-size stores (Torrid, Lane Bryant) then you can see what your size would be at City Chic. It’s really neat and I kind of wish other stores had something similar. However, I do understand clothes are cut differently and sizing isn’t always consistent between the stores. I’ve learned through experience and the various blogs I’ve read that you shouldn’t always pay attention to the size; it’s just a number. The fabric may stretch or the shirt may be roomy. I had a shirt that was supposed to be big on a skinnier girl and it was fitted on me. I didn’t care; it was still cute. 🙂

Some of my favs from City Chic (Click pic to be linked):

Roxanne Dress: I wish I could pull this off. “Sure you can!!” is what my friends would say. I’m sure it would look alright but this girl looks like she has attitude, spunk, confidence! This dress was made for her! Why do I sound like some kind of advertisement? Lol..

Wild Flight Maxi Dress: I LOVE maxi dresses! They’re so feminine and right up my alley. One of the best compliments of my LIFE came from a customer when I worked retail. She said I looked like a goddess in my maxi dress. She may have been exaggerating (I sure didn’t feel like one at the time, lol) but it was really sweet nonetheless.

I really like these two tops, Graffiti and the Turn Head top. The Turn Head one is so cute and I don’t think I would want to wear anything over it. Well, I guess the boyfriend jacket would be cute; I definitely need to add one of those to my wardrobe!

I’ve added this store to my list of stores and will be sure to order sometime in the future, especially once the holidays pass. I can’t wait! >.<
