Dear Mama…Don’t You Know I Love You Sweet Babyyyyy

This weekend was a pretty lazy one for me. I didn’t do much of anything. I did get some shopping in! Some of the things I bought for myself and a large majority, Hurricane bought. It’s nice to be spoiled sometimes. =)

I definitely broke my “No Spend January” challenge. I was only 5 days away! See what had happened was…I went into Rue 21 with Hurricane’s younger cousin and I just sort of lost my mind. I did try to talk myself out of the purchases and it definitely didn’t work. I saw the clearance section for jewelry and I couldn’t help myself. I’d not really shopped here before since their clothes are for itty bitty girls/guys. However, like the plus-sized bloggers advise: don’t pay attention to the size on the label. There was a cute shirt that looked like it would fit and I refrained from buying it since I wasn’t in love.  Sad that I could refrain from clothes easier than I could jewelry. I do love the jewelry Rue 21 sells and I’ve been trying to increase my collection! So I just said “Fuck it” and bought what I wanted. I did put one necklace back (because I picked up a pair of cute shoes for $10!! >.<).  In all: I bought a cute little bow ring ($3), a long pearlescent necklace ($9), a pair of black heels with ruffles on the back heel ($10), a pair of earrings – long gold dangly ones ($4). I didn’t go too crazy! Oh and I bought a pack of slim headbands. I need more of those in my life. That was about $4. Rue 21 reminds me of Forever 21 in that they have similar prices for their jewelry. The jewelry is adorable and I think it holds up pretty well for the price!

Saturday, Hurricane got an elaborate tattoo of her mom’s face on her calf. The thing took about 4 hours to complete and I was pretty impressed with the result. The only part I dislike are her teeth. The tattoo makes them look all scraggly when they’re not. Hopefully once the tattoo settles down, it will look better.

Sunday, Hurricane took me shopping. Saturday she was driving around town and saw signs for the closing of our local Avenue. When she told me this I became excited since I had a chance to take advantage of some major *hopefully* deals. So we get to the store and they definitely aren’t closing. They’re just having a huge clearance sale. Still great in my book! I’d been wanting to buy some Avenue tights after hearing rave reviews about them so I was happy to be able to buy some. I got 2 pairs of jeans (2 for $40), and 2 shirts for about $8 total, bracelet, 2 necklaces and a pair of Cloud Walker shoes for $15. The style is a bit older than I would normally choose but I really thought they were cute! And what’s funny is Hurricane liked them too (she doesn’t always like my style). Love the color – they’re a maroonish color. Considering the original prices, I did pretty well! Of course, I was spending Hurricane’s money but I was glad to save her some money! Lol. That’s not something I’ll do very often. In fact, I think this is the most I’ve let her spend on me when it comes to clothes and all that. I just feel weird letting someone else buy me clothes/jewelry, etc because it’s not a necessity. Now, if it’s my mother or sister – that’s a whole different story, lol. Hurricane was happy to do this though so I tried to get over my feelings and just enjoy the fact that I have someone who wanted to spoil me in that moment. =)

So yesterday I wore this purple sweater I bought in FL while on vacation; it’s from Marshall’s. It wasn’t a planned purchase; we were going out that night and I wanted something comfy and warm (since it was chilly at the time – stupid FL). I picked this out an although I like the shirt – I didn’t feel too comfortable in it at the club. I was hot and it just seemed too much for the club. Ah well! The shoes were pretty comfortable and I was worried they would hurt horribly by the end of the day. The only part that did hurt was the side of my pinky toes. A little moleskin fixed that problem right away. =)

I know this isn’t a great picture. I was sleepy as fuck and it’s coming out in the picture.  Annnd I always do this weird thing with my feet when I take pictures – I bend them out to the side. Of course this means you can’t see the heel very well…

Anywho – wish I had more to report but I really don’t. There are some ideas I have for posts so I’ll have to see if those come to fruition. Hopefully my lazy self will write something up! I want to post some of my poems but I’m wary of doing that since they’re not copyrighted. Not like I could make money off them but if someone else steals them and gets rich – I’ll be one pissed bitch. I’m jus sayin… A few more pictures are below. I tried to get a good picture of the shoes on my feet. The color is better in person; this picture doesn’t cut it!

30 Days of Me: Day 8

~*~ Day 08 –  Short term goals for this month and why. ~*~

Soooo I’ve definitely not been doing this as regularly as I’d hoped. Alright so short term goals for the month? Well January is almost over. (Already?!!! >.<) I was participating in the No Spend January challenge a lot of fashion bloggers have been doing. Although I do have a blog, it’s by no means a fashion one so I didn’t want to “officially” join the challenge. I have been very good so far! I did kind of cheat over the weekend though. I was with Hurricane and saw this really nice purse for $5. Instead of me buying it, I asked her to buy it for me. It was a gift from her right?? Right?! o.O Yeah – probably not. I did use gift cards from Christmas but I do not count those as part of my earned money. During the first couple of weeks I kept forgetting I wasn’t supposed to spend money on clothes, etc. Target is my Achilles heel! Every time I enter I gravitate straight towards the clothes, particularly the clearance section first. One day I went into Target to get some cereal and before I knew it, I was halfway through a clearance rack before I remembered the challenge! Ooops… It’s not hard to refrain from spending the money as much as it’s hard to resist going into stores. I am on a budget so when I’m not making these promises to myself, I don’t spend very much anyways.

So I guess I should come up with a short-term goal for February? I dunno. I would like to start exercising yet I know how stubborn/lazy I can be and I may not do that. I can make it a goal to walk more during lunch. That’s been a goal of mine before though and I’ve not obtained that one. Hmmm…maybe to refrain as much as possible from negative thinking. I think that one would have better results at the moment. I’m such a self-conscious person and my self-esteem fluctuates dramatically based on someone else’s opinion of me. That’s unhealthy and I can’t rely on others for my happiness (or so I’m told). I have to learn to love myself for who I am, what I look like, what my body can do, etc. So yes – February is the month of love anyways so I’ll make it my month of self-love! ❤

Oh and I guess I’ll include an OOTD. I am surviving off 2 hours of sleep so I look less than jubilant in this pic. Nothing terribly fascinating about this outfit. The shirt is the only animal print I own. I have yet to buy more animal print because of that voice in my head “It looks great on others and you just can’t pull it off!” I need to silence that voice ASAP. And I feel like the outfit is missing that final…oomph! people talk about. Skinny belt? Better jewelry? I need bangles in my life! Going through my bracelets this morning was depressing. I don’t have enough! Not going to mention the jewelry details since they’re in the previous posts. The earrings are different – they were a gift from my lovely girlfriend. I believe she bought them at Macy’s.

Sure…Unsure [OOTD]

My day isn’t over sooo I don’t have much to report for the afternoon. I went to bed super late (4:30am!) yet surprisingly I’m not very tired. I did nap at Hurricane’s house prior to driving home so that probably had a lot to do with the insomnia. It also didn’t help that I was on Tumblr last night reblogging almost everything cute I saw. I’m addicted!

I didn’t do very much last night. I hoped to see the latest episode of Bad Girls Club but the rerun aired before I had a chance to get to Hurricane’s house! I did see the tail-end so I’ll have to catch it another time. I didn’t think I’d like this show as much as I do. However, I don’t understand what the girls are competing for. From what I gather, they are in the house due to their “Bad Girl” reputation, yet the minute they hit someone in the house, they are sent home. So they can only be a verbal bad girl?? Also, I’ve yet to hear of them mention a prize. The last season ended with about 4 girls left in the house and they got into a huge fight. The season’s reunion episode didn’t mention any other girls getting thrown off the show! So I dunno. All I know is it’s pretty interesting. One girl from a past season likes to say “Pop off son!” Hurricane & I love using that phrase, haha. I’m by no means a fighter (except when I’m furiously angry), I just love saying it.

After Bad Girls Club I watched The Game. This is another show I took awhile to get into. My other friends were in love with it and I just figured it was another dumb show. That all changed when I watched a million episodes (gotta love those marathons!). So I figured I’d watch this season since I liked last season. I dunno what the hell they did this time around but I don’t like it as much. One of the characters, Melanie, is much more of an airhead than before. I found her slightly annoying in the last season and now I can barely stand her! I love Tia Mowry but I don’t like her character. Apparently she wanted to be an MD and all that was put to the wayside when she married the football player. Or maybe she has her license and doesn’t practice? Now she has a contract with Essence (or is it Ebony??) magazine. She just doesn’t seem to have much substance to me. The other girls have some interesting backgrounds and aren’t as annoying. Plus, the jackass, Malik, really irks me. It seems as though they are taking his jackassness to a whole new level. He’s relentless with it and won’t give up. I need for them to have an epiphany and change his attitude. Last night’s episode ended with his arrest for driving drunk & assaulting an officer. Maybe his jail stint will help him gain insight. I kind of doubt that will happen though… We’ll see *shrug*

So my outfit today is one I’ve worn before. I’m bored with how I usually wear it so I need a new way to style it! I was unsure about lace tops yet I found this one at NY & Co. for $7 so I figured I would try it since it was so cheap. So far I like it a lot, yet I’ve only worn it under one of two cardigans. I have the pink one (below) and a mustard yellow one. I need a blazer badly! I saw a boyfriend blazer on sale @ Target for $10! TEN DOLLARS!! I’m doing the No Spend January challenge but I didn’t care, I was definitely going to buy this. HOWEVER, the stupid arm holes were too friggin small! It was a 2X, which is usually my size in jackets, yet the holes were small enough that I wouldn’t have been comfortable moving around. My arms have always been my “problem area” since shirts/jackets can fit everywhere else and my arm flab prevents it from fitting almost perfectly. I’ll keep searching for a blazer. I may have to bite the bullet and order one from Torrid. I’ve become such a frugal shopper since I graduated college. Plus, sometimes I don’t feel the prices at Torrid reflect the quality of the clothing. Don’t get me wrong, I love their stuff. I just don’t like how clothes/accessories can tear and break so easily. When I first started working for them, I bought a cute shirt and my fingernail tore right through it the 2nd time I tried to wear it! >.< Not. Cool. Torrid has really good sales though so I’ll try to catch the next one!

Anywho..pictures! I used an actual camera this time! Next step: find a better background!

So going back to a point I had about the outfit (Tangents are my specialty)…I was trying to decide if I like it better w/ or w/o the scarf. I like the scarf because the color is so pretty & I think it goes with the outfit well. I just feel like I have too much around my neck and feel all…stuffed. It’s cold out though so I’ll definitely wear it outside. I don’t always do the belt around the cardigan deal since it feels awkward to me. I need some skinny belts. They look cute on a lot of plus size girls. I guess I’m just afraid they’ll get lost in my rolls..ha! Seriously though – I’ll try it out. Maybe next time I’ll remember to take off my badge… =\

MAN I just realized I didn’t have my jewelry on! I took it off to take pictures of them and forgot to wear it for the outfit pic! Oh well – you (all 2 of you lol) get the idea.
